The O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center and Department of Medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) are recruiting two highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellows in the laboratory of Dr. Rui Lu. The Lu lab is interested in understanding epigenetic mechanisms underlying cancer development and developing targeted treatment strategies, with an emphasis on blood cancers such as acute myeloid leukemia. We apply both wet-lab techniques and dry-lab genomic profiling and bioinformatics approaches in different cancer model systems.

Qualifications/Preferred Skillsets:

Candidates should have an MD or PhD degree or should be close to obtaining their doctoral degree in molecular biology, cell biology, cancer biology, computational biology, or other related fields. Prior experience in gene regulation, bioinformatics, chromatin biochemistry, or transgenic mouse models will be preferred, but not required. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to establish multidisciplinary collaborations and utilize state-of-the-art genetic (CRISPR/Cas9, genome-wide screening) and genomic (ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq, Hi-C, and single cell Cut&Tag) technologies for studying epigenetics and cancer. In addition to an exciting work environment, UAB offers a competitive salary and a strong benefits package.
