Description:

The Ahern lab at the University of Iowa has an open post-doctoral position for the study of molecular mechanisms of childhood epilepsies, rare genetic disease, and Autism Spectrum Disorders. Projects involve the use of patient iPSC and animal models to develop RNA therapeutics. The position allows for direct interactions with partners in biotech and the application of novel technologies.

Responsibilities:

Help to direct a team using iPSC and new mouse models of neurological genetic disease, design electrophysiological experiments, experience with patch-clamp electrophysiology, ion channels, molecular biology, and viral delivery are preferred. The ideal candidate will be able to lead multiple projects and develop successful strategies for project management, and work closely with other lab members, clinical scientists and patient groups.


Qualifications/Preferred Skillsets:

Molecular biology, viral delivery, and neuronal electrophysiology (cell lines, primary culture, slice). Grant and paper writing, and presentation experience preferred. Additional hobbies are welcome.
