We are studying mechanisms governing host-pathogen interactions as well as the impact of nutrition and age on host immunity using nonhuman primate models and clinical samples. We are looking for highly motivated and collaborative postdoctoral associates to join my research group at the University of Kentucky's Department of Microbiology, Immunology & Molecular Genetics. Available projects are aimed at investigating: 1) the impact of chronic heavy alcohol consumption on various aspects of immunity and 2) the role of age-related changes in the lung microbiome/immunological landscape in increased incidence of non-tuberculous mycobacterium pulmonary disease.

Responsibilities:

Suitable candidate should have strong bench skills in microbiological techniques (microbiome analyses, bacterial isolation and culture, viral mutagenesis), tissue culture and molecular biology. Strong written and oral communication skills; proven track record of troubleshooting and problem solving.
