MysorekarLab Houston, TX, USA

Description:

The Mysorekar lab has two postdoctoral opportunities working on exciting projects studying infectious disease.
-
Position 1:
The Mysorekar lab has opportunities for newly graduated PhD students who seek advanced postdoctoral training in reproductive biology/immunology, viral infections in pregnancy are welcome to apply for this position. These studies involve understanding impact of SARS COV2, or Zika virus infection on pregnancy. Using mouse models, cell culture models, 3D organoid cultures, and placental tissues, we take a variety of approaches to understand viral pathogenesis in an exciting new program researching the immunity at the maternal fetal interface.

Position 2:
The Mysorekar lab has opportunities for newly graduated PhD students who seek advanced postdoctoral training in infection pathogenesis and immune responses; urinary tract infections; bacterial genetics and host response are welcome to apply for this position.
These studies involve understanding impact of Uropathogenic E. coli (UPEC) Infection on the bladder (Urinary tract infections, UTIs). Using mouse models, cell culture models, 3D organoid cultures, and human bladder tissues, we take a variety of approaches to understand bacterial pathogenesis in an exciting new program researching the urinary interface. We use transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics approaches to dissect the host responses to infection; role for autophagy, lipophagy, bacterial trafficking in this process. We also investigate immune response to infection, particularly in the aged bladder.
