A research technician position is available at the CHOP Mechanistic Molecular Immunology Lab, for immediate hire. The Lab fosters teamwork to study proteins involved in immunological responses, (specifically, class-I MHC molecules and their interactions with peptide antigens, molecular chaperones and T cell receptors), with the long-term goal of characterizing novel targets for personalized cancer immunotherapy. A minimum of 1-year experience in laboratory work is required. Preferred skills include a background in protein expression and purification in E.coli and/or insect cell systems and in basic biochemical assays. Additional experience in mammalian cell culture and flow cytometry protocols is desired. The ideal candidate will be able to work in a team setting to develop new assays, optimize protocols and troubleshoot issues, while maintaining strict laboratory records of their work. -Performs routine tests under the direction of principal investigator or supervisor
-Performs research procedures on experimental samples as directed
-Records and checks results for completeness and accuracy
-Performs calculations and maintains appropriate log and lab notebooks
-Performs tasks that require familiarity with fundamental techniques and equipment
-Assists with planning specific research protocols and procedures
-Maintains office, lab area, reagents, supplies and equipment
-Cleans and performs routine maintenance on lab equipment
-Coordinates schedules of tests & procedures
-Attends courses, seminars, and lab meetings to expand knowledge of research and laboratory techniques
-Records results, organizes data and maintains lab notebook in an organized manner
-Conducts literary searches as directed
Required Education: Associates Degree
Required Experience: Nine (9) months of laboratory experience
Preferred Education: Bachelor’s Degree
-Eighteen (18) months of laboratory experience
-Related internship experience.
