The Mayo Clinic Vaccine Research Group is seeking a Research Fellow committed to developing an academic career in immunology and vaccinology. Under the direction of Drs. Richard Kennedy and Gregory Poland, this position will work in a laboratory that uses state of the art molecular, immunologic, and omics approaches to study immune responses to viral vaccines.
The Vaccine Research Group has multiple NIH-funded projects and CDC contracts and offers an extraordinary team-based science environment with multiple opportunities for education, training and career development; while the Mayo Clinic provides world-class clinical research facilities to support clinical, translational, and basic research activities.


Currently we are searching for postdoctoral fellows to work on several NIH and industry funded projects. These projects include evaluating factors controlling the development of immunologic memory and waning immunity to measles and mumps following MMR vaccination, using systems biology approaches to evaluate both humoral and cellular immune responses to influenza vaccines, and the development of peptide-based vaccine for SARS-CoV-2. The peptide-based vaccine project will be followed by the development of additional vaccines against zika, chikungunya, smallpox, and other viral diseases. The candidate must be responsible, organized, and self-motivated, and able to efficiently manage time and experiments.

Qualifications/Preferred Skillsets:

We are seeking candidates with a strong background in immunology, virology, and/or molecular biology. It is expected that successful candidates will have a significant record of research accomplishment. Experience working with functional/mechanistic assessment of genetic variants and/or flow/mass cytometry is a plus. Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work independently are essential to success in this position, as are good communication and organizational skills.
