The Crews Lab in the Division of Regenerative Medicine at UC San Diego is seeking a Post-Doctoral Researcher interested in studying transcriptional and post-transcriptional regulation of blood cancer stem cell function.
The overall focus of the Crews Laboratory is on multiple myeloma biology and pre-clinical therapy development, including novel RNA-targeted agents. The post-doctoral researcher will join a collaborative team of scientists, students and clinician collaborators working on NCI-funded research aimed at understanding the core transcriptional regulators of malignant stem cell generation in multiple myeloma. Lab members have access to a vibrant collaborative culture within the Division of Regenerative Medicine and at the Moores Cancer Center, with numerous career-enriching informal and formal training programs, including institutional post-doctoral fellowship funding opportunities.
The Post-Doctoral Researcher will be responsible for the following: 1) Developing and maintaining in vitro and in vivo disease models for gene modulation and combination drug treatment assays and analyses, 2) Isolation and in vivo transplantation of hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells, 3) Quantification of gene/protein expression, signal transduction pathway activation, and functional evaluation of normal and cancer stem cell regenerative capacity. Laboratory procedures typically include cellular and molecular biology techniques such as flow cytometry, cell sorting, qPCR, Western blotting, high throughput sequencing (bulk and single cell), microscopy, cloning, virus preparation/infection, tissue culture, primary patient sample processing and co-culture/3D culture assays, and xenograft models. The post-doctoral researcher will also be involved in general laboratory maintenance, participate in group meetings, data presentation, and manuscript preparation.
Candidates must have obtained a Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. in cellular and molecular biology, cancer biology, and/or a related field.
